Being a native Filipina, founder Marilyn after spending
years in the major metropolis of Manila decided to return to her
roots in the province of Negros Oriental.
Having a devout love of the Islands and the tropical climate
she be gan looking into finding her true calling. With a background
in retail selling clothing she realized how much she loved fashion.
She wanted to combine her retail experience with her passion and
soon found a perfect product line. Handbags and Accessories...
Although she wanted to jump into buying and selling native handbags
right away, she found that the quality varied from wholesaler to
wholesaler. They also varied from maker to maker as well and
there seemed to be no standardization of pricing either.
With a big heart and a small budget, Marilyn began
selecting and making agreements with makers for their handbags.
Selecting only the best designs and the highest quality. Much
like the difference between single and double stitching, you will
find some hand-woven bags have been made from expiring dry leaves
and the like making the handbag less attractive with a shorter life
cycle. "Finding the Right Maker is Key" she says and that can make
the difference of a repeat order or never hearing from that customer
again!
Marilyn is now poised to meet the demand. Her handbags are
the designs of the local makers, allowing their years of tradition
to blend into modern day fashion. It's obvious that the designs are
timeless in there beauty and durability. A timeless art that
can be seen on the forearms of the everyday woman without regard to
age or nationality. From the good old straw beach bag to the
coolest outdoor evening event she has something for everyone.
Marilyn says, "Our country may be small and poor, but we have
some of the finest hand-bag weavers in the world. Women from all
over the world enjoy our native handbags and accessories and many
don't really even know that they came from the Philippines. We
are rich in tradition and skills that date back centuries. Many
women don't realize the legacy they carry on there arms.
